Researchers have found a high incidence of toddlers sickened from an uncommon strain of salmonella traced to pet food. Children who were sickened from the salmonella outbreaks were likely to live in homes where pets were fed in the kitchen.
Tip 1: Move the pet food area out of the kitchen and away from the kids.
Tip 2: Always wash hands thoroughly after handling pet food and containers.
